This centre follows the German league. A DFB-Pokal or European match involving a Bundesliga club belongs to a different competition and does not change its league record.

History & records
The Bundesliga started on 24 August 1963. Bayern Munich joined the division in 1965, so the league’s founding and Bayern’s first season are different milestones.
The league archive makes a useful counterweight to assumptions based on the most recent champions. Its earlier title races include different winning clubs, coaching approaches and goalscorers.
What to watch for
Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund is known as Der Klassiker. It is a national rivalry rather than a same-city derby; Dortmund against Schalke is a different regional rivalry.
