Following Premier League

The Premier League centre brings the English competition’s fixtures and standings together. Match status distinguishes scheduled games from live and completed fixtures; a blank feed does not mean that no games are scheduled.

Reading the match centre

Fixtures and standings may update at different times. Check the displayed date, season, timezone and match status. A missing match panel does not mean that no fixtures are scheduled.

Keep Premier League games separate from domestic cup ties and European matches involving the same English clubs. A club’s last result in another competition does not change its league points.

Before comparing clubs

Compare games played before reading a points gap as a direct comparison. A club with an outstanding fixture has a different remaining schedule; a game in hand is an opportunity, not points already earned.

Check a fixture in three steps

  1. Read the date and the displayed timezone; do not assume the page is limited to today.
  2. Distinguish scheduled, in-progress and completed match statuses.
  3. Confirm a changed fixture or a disputed result with the organiser.

Use the organiser’s match listing for a revised kick-off or postponement, and the league’s own announcements for decisions affecting the table. Premier League official website.

If the match feed is unavailable, use the official source rather than treating a blank panel as a confirmed absence of fixtures.

Thierry Henry

Alan Shearer
Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United striker; inducted alongside Henry in 2021.
History & records

The Premier League began in 1992. Its first Hall of Fame inductees, announced in April 2021, were Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry.

Look beyond a club’s latest position to its different eras. Henry’s Arsenal career and Shearer’s spells at Blackburn and Newcastle show how a league story can include creative team play, an individual scorer and clubs outside the most recent title race.

What to watch for

Use the north London meeting between Arsenal and Tottenham as a starting point for local rivalries, then compare it with a broader historical rivalry such as Liverpool against Manchester United.
