What is Icing?

Icing occurs when a player shoots the puck across both the center red line and the opposing team's goal line without it being touched. Play stops and a faceoff is held in the offending team's zone.

A play is offside if an attacking player enters the offensive zone (crosses the blue line) before the puck does. The play is stopped and a faceoff occurs in the neutral zone.
